BREWER – Irma N. Strang Penney, 96, died Aug. 8, 2008, at a Bangor health care center. She was born May 15, 1912, in New Sharon, the daughter of George A. and Nellie (Swan) Russell. Irma was a graduate of Farmington Normal School and the University of Maine, and taught school in the Bangor school system from 1952 to the mid-1970s. She was also a longtime member of Second Congregational Church, Brewer. She is survived by three children, Arnold N. Strang and his wife, Janice, of Plainfield, Ill., Valerie A. Littlefield and her husband, Lawrence, and Gary R. Strang of Orrington; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Norman Strang in 1952; her second husband, Donald Penney in 1976; and a sister, Avis A. Strang. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Second Congregational Church, 607 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Dr. Foster Williams, presiding.
