PRESQUE ISLE – Sarah A. Knox, 75, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at a Mars Hill health care facility. She was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Presque Isle, daughter of Wallace and Lucy Rand. Sarah was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening, walking, spending time at camp on Cross Lake, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Richard Knox of Presque Isle; a son, Richard Jr. and his wife, Lauri, of Presque Isle; two daughters and their husbands, Diana and Gordon Stearns of Berwick and Lori and Christopher Wharff of Yarmouth; eight grandchildren, Catherine Clockedile, Cindy Richards, Katie Wharff, Jenni Wharff, Leslie Arsenault, Marcie Farley, Loren White Jr. and April Simonds; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Jacob, Nathan and Bradley; nine brothers and sisters, Gail Bull, Janette Barker, Shirley Rand, Margaret Turner, Marie Dennet, Edwina Stairs, Robert Rand, Harold Rand and Gary Rand; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Pearl and Cheryl Knox; a sister, Ellen Lewin; and three brothers, Mac, Weldon and Alex Rand. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Kierstead officiating. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Johnson Cemetery, Presque Isle.
