SHERMAN – Irving Gerald Patterson, 92, died June 11, 2007, in Houlton. He was born Aug. 19, 1914, in Sherman, the son of Irving and Grace (Perry) Patterson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 19th Infantry Division. He was a selectman for the town of Sherman for many years, and was proud of the town. Irving also was a potato farmer for more than 50 years. He is survived by one daughter, Analee and her husband, Gene Gould; one son, Robert and his wife, Yvonne, all of Sherman; nine grandchildren, Susan, John, Rebecca, Patrick, Patricia, Kimball, Annette, Dianne, and Jerald; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Frank Oakley Patterson and his wife, Bertha, of Greenland, N.H.; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including one special nephew, Bud Patterson of Patten; and many wonderful friends, especially Stan and Priscilla Williams. He was predeceased by his wife, Velma; one son, Barry; one grandson, Glenn; and two brothers, Duane and Ferd. The family thanks Dr. Hrynick for his care and compassion throughout the years and all the nurses for their care at Houlton Regional Hospital. Friends may call starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Gerald’s house, 289 Main St., Sherman. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Sherman Mills Cemetery, with the Rev.
