MARSHFIELD – Isabel G. Hayward died March 27, 2005, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. She was born July 20, 1920, the daughter of David J. and Cora (Snyder) Richards in Gibson, Pa. She was the wife of Lowell R. “Pud” Hayward Jr. of Marshfield. Mrs. Hayward spent her adult life as a homemaker and as a caregiver to numerous foster children, and in later life, to the elderly. She was proud to have been a Senior Companion until ill health forced her to give up that position. Isabel is survived by her husband; two sons, James C. Grinnell and his wife, Joanne, of Machiasport, and Lee D. Grinnell and his wife, Beatrice, of Southwest Harbor; a sister, Jessie Mayne, of Oneida, N.Y.; two foster daughters, Penny Curtis of Bangor, and Patty Smith of Bar Harbor; grandchildren, Lyndsey Hansen and her husband, Nate, Cassie Grinnell, Katie Grinnell, Alan Curtis, Ryan Stanhope; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Pvt. Richard R. Grinnell, USMC, who was killed in the Vietnam War; and her first husband, Richard G. Grinnell. At Isabel’s request there will be a private family committal service at a later date. Those who wish may make donations to the charity of their choice in Isabel’s memory.
