PETERBOROUGH, N.H. – Florence Louise Good, 87, of Old Dublin Road, died Monday, March 28, at her daughter’s home in Dublin, N.H. She was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Medford, Mass., the daughter of Florence Mabel (Bonin) and Niles Varnum Clark. She had resided in Peterborough for four years and prior to that lived for 60 years on the family farm in Monticello. She graduated from Medford High School in 1935, where she was recognized as a champion swimmer, and later, she married Lawrence Chester Good. It is known that she was a city girl that became a farmer’s wife. When World War II broke out, she and her husband moved back to his family farm, “Good Farms”, in Monticello, to produce potatoes, sheep, and other small livestock for the war effort. Florence had a life of philanthropy; giving with wisdom and kindness in her unique way to the people she quietly helped throughout her lifetime. Though she was raised without a mother, she became a mother to all and had a great influence on the many lives she touched. She also had an eye for beauty and enjoyed collecting antiques and Asian art. She is survived by three children, Joanne Webb of Lafayette, Ind., Nancy Cayford of Dublin, N.H., and Thomas Good of Monticello; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; two brothers and one sister. A memorial service will take place Saturday, May 14, at the Court Street Baptist Church in Houlton. Burial and scattering will take place on “Good Farms” in Monticello. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Houlton Cary Library, 107 Main St., Houlton, ME, 04730; or Friends of the Oglala Lakota, a non-profit organization that provides books for American Indian Children, PO Box 497, Dublin, NH. Jellison Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, is assisting the family with arrangements.
