BANGOR and KENNEBUNK Isabelle H. (Coffey) Briggs, 99, of Bangor, passed away May 30, 2007, in Kennebunk. Born in 1907, in Houlton, Isabelle was the daughter of Elizabeth and Joseph Coffey. There she met her husband-to-be, Ralph M. Briggs of New Brunswick, Canada. They married and moved to Lincoln, where they became the proud parents of seven children. It was in Lincoln that Mr. Briggs became the founder and CEO of Briggs, Inc., a wholesale beverage business. Eventually the family moved to Bangor to continue the growth of their company. Isabelle will be most remembered by her family because of her devotedness to them and for being the force behind her husband’s successful business career. Her husband, Ralph, died in 1979, at their winter home in Spring Hill, Fla. She is survived by five children, Allison Briggs of Brewer, Joan Griffin of Lincoln, Richard Briggs of Tucson, Ariz., Peter Briggs of Kennebunk and Susan McEachern of Wellesley, Mass. Isabelle also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Murray; and a daughter, Jeanette Smith. A memorial service in her honor will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, her family request that donations be made to Kennebunk Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094-0043.
