PRESQUE ISLE – Isabelle Elizabeth Willette, 80, passed away June 11, 2007, at The Aroostook Medical Center. She was born Feb. 15, 1927, in St. Jean De La Lande, Quebec, the daughter of Alcirne and Artimise (Long) Soucy. Isabelle was a strong and independent individual who loved her family and friends dearly. Her strong will allowed her to raise five children and pay off her mortgage on her own, after the passing of her husband, Albert. Her spirit and determination to raise her children to be good citizens and hard workers was an inspiration to all of the people in her life. Most people will remember Isabelle as the person who re-did their furniture. Isabelle was a sought after upholsterer in northern Maine with customers as far south as Waterville. She loved working with her hands. If she wasn’t giving new life to old furniture she was working her yard on 80 Hardy Street. As we grew up around Isabelle we all learned the value of working hard to get what we want and taking pride in our achievements. She was the most supportive mother any child could ask for and would do whatever it took to make sure we were all happy. Her second love was going to bingo and playing cards with all of her friends. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her, we will miss you Isabelle. She is survived by four children, Daniel Willette and his wife, Jane, of Winslow and their children, Jackie and Joey, David Willette and his wife, Denise, of Brewer and their son, Jason, Michael Willette and his wife, Pam, of Presque Isle and their children, Alex, Maddy and Sophie and Jean (Willette) Hanington and her husband, Sheldon, of Lincoln and their children, Mark, Jesse and Sarah; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Willette and her children, Jeff and his wife, Jill, Julie Howlett and her husband, Wayne Jr., and Janet Willette. She is survived by three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jaylee and Noah. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert, in 1977; son, Gary Willette, in 2003; and her longtime companion and friend, Athill Grant. Funeral services for Isabelle Elizabeth Willette will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle.
