GREENBUSH – J. Dorothy (Cunningham) Weymouth, 93, wife of the late Leroy W. Weymouth, died peacefully April 29, 2008, at an Orono health care facility, after a long illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Greenbush, the fourth daughter of Alonzo and Elizabeth (Harris) Cunningham. Dorothy married Leroy, July 26, 1947. She loved gardening, feeding the birds and camping. She was a talented homemaker, embroidering and crocheting afghans for everyone she knew. She was a good cook. Everyone visiting her had to have her molasses cookies or biscuits and a cup of tea. She sewed her own clothes and doll clothes for her nieces and great-nieces. She is survived by her niece, Patricia Buchanan and Harry, caregivers for many years; three other nieces, Elizabeth (Madden) Young, Edna (Madden) Margison and Georgia (Pearson) Burke; and six nephews, Martin, Dean and Ronald Madden, Bruce Oberg and Ertin Jr. and Gail Wright. She also had nine great-nieces, 16 great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Helen Barker. She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy; a brother, Alonzo “Buddy” Cunningham; and four sisters, Noreen Wright, Hazel Madden, Avis Oberg and Katherine Pearson. At her request, there will be no visiting hours or a funeral. A graveside service will be held May 23 at Cardville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Old Town Animal Orphanage, P.O. Box 565, Orono, ME 04473 or to a charity of one’s choice. Services entrusted to the care of Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
