BELFAST – J. Douglas Pelletier, 76, died peacefully July 18, 2008, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1932, in Fort Kent, the son of Leo and Martha (Sirois) Pelletier. He was a history and language teacher for 28 years in New York prior to his retirement to Belfast, where he continued teaching at Crosby for a few years, and then enjoyed being a conductor for Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad. He loved gardening, horses, history and especially his family. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna; and a son, Paul. He is survived by his spouse of 54 years, Marie “Stella” Dionne Pelletier of Belfast; two daughters, Roxanne and her husband, Michael Westbrook, of Howard, N.Y., and Sandra Russell of Belfast; five sons, Mark Pelletier of Belfast, Luke Pelletier of Avoca, N.Y., Matthew and wife, Cyn-thia Pelletier, of Bath, N.Y., John and wife, Penny Pelletier, of Vestal, N.Y., and Joshua Pelletier of Barrytown, N.Y.; a brother, Wilfride Pelletier of Omaha, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 80 Court St., Belfast, with services later in New York.
