CONWAY, Ark. – J. Harold Thomas, 92, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, in Conway, Ark. He was married to Roxie Norton Thomas for 72 years. He was minister of University Church of Christ, Conway, Ark., 1980-1993 and preached 75 years in the United States and abroad. Harold helped to found Northeastern Christian College, Villanova, Pa., serving as chairman of the board and president. Harold was the regular writer of the INSIGHTS column for Log Cabin Democrat, 1993. He was active in the Ministerial Alliance and had a passion for unity among churches. He earned a doctorate in theology from Boston University and received an honorary decorate degree from Pepperdine University. Harold authored two biblical novels and preached on radio and television in New England. Conway became his “adopted” hometown, and he will be greatly missed. Harold leaves behind his beloved wife, Roxie; five children, Dr. Robert Harold Thomas of Grand Junction, Colo., Dr. James Donald Thomas of Pasadena, Calif., Rosemary Ann Farmer of Conway, Ark., Dr. Theodore Norton Thomas of Johnson City, Tenn., and Margaret Elaine Harris of Boulder, Colo. He leaves 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the University Church of Christ, Conway, Ark., with burial 2 p.m. Tuesday at Granbury Cemetery, Granbury, Texas. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, Ark.
