CARMEL – James Andrew Dunton, 78, died Jan. 6, 2004, at his residence. He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Carmel, the son of William Adams and Florice E. (Partridge) Dunton. James was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for Striar Textile Mill in Orono and Viners Shoe in Bangor, and during his retirement he ran a portable sawmill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. James was a member of the Snowmobile Club of Carmel and a 50-year member of the Golden Harvest Grange of Carmel. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor C. Dunton of Carmel; two children, Harry L. Dunton and his wife, Mary of Holden, and Sandra M. and her husband, Clyde Stormann, of Carmel; one daughter-in-law, Carol Dunton of Carmel; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; two brothers, Maurice, and Maynard Dunton; two sisters, Alice Gardner and Jean McCray; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, James Dunton Jr.; two brothers, David and Reggie Dunton; one sister, Stella Sewall. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the visiting hours at the Carmel Snowmobile Club, Route 69, Hampden Rd., Carmel.
