PRESQUE ISLE – James E. Maillett, 80, died Aug. 20, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou. He was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Millinocket, the son of Levi and Lucy (Cote) Maillett. Jim served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a past grand knight of the Bishop Daniel J. Feeney Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Jim retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service. Surviving him is his wife, Bernadette (Martin) Maillett of Presque Isle; four sons and their wives, James and Jan Maillett Jr. of Bangor, Daniel and Lynn Maillett of Mapleton, Patrick and Louise Maillett of Fryeburg, Joseph and Julie Maillett of Presque Isle; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and his wife Arthur and Ruth Martin, of Presque Isle; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle with the Rev. Raymond Morency celebrant. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Caribou. Those who wish may donate in his memory to St. Mary’s Social Action, P.O. Box 813, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
