PATTEN and CASTLE HILL James I. “Chick” Cote, 63, died Jan. 14, 2004, in Presque Isle. He was born on April 14, 1941, the son of the late James J. Cote and Beulah M. (McCarthy) Cote. He was in the U.S. Army and served two years in Vietnam. He was married to Barbara J. Cote in January of 1963. He raised many foster children in his life and loved all children. He also loved to spend time in his garage working on his Harley and his hot rod. In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Scott; his beloved grandson, Mason Scott of Patten; a sister, Rebecca Anderson of Littleton; two brothers, Frank Cote of Rhode Island and Guy Cote of Mt. Chase; one niece, Shylo Cote; four nephews, Brian and Duane Cote and their children, and Kevin and James Anderson and their children. He was predeceased by one brother, Ronald Cote. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Bowers Funeral Home in Island Falls where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. A spring interment will be held in the Patten Cemetery.
