CHESTER – James Ireland, 73, went home to be with the Lord, Dec. 4, 2003. He was born May 26, 1930, in Woodville, the son of Liona Murchison. James served his country in the Navy during World War II, and went on to raise a family in Chester with his wife, Ardis (Nason) Ireland. James worked 28 years as a woodsman, and he worked for B&A Railroad for several years as well. His children and grandchildren were the joys of his life, especially teaching his grandchildren to fish, and fishing in Eastport. In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Michael Ireland and his wife, Joy, of San Matio, Fla.; Brenda Fitzhugh, David Ireland and his wife, Linda, Nancy Archer and her husband, Dale, William Ireland, all of Chester, Sherry Kimball and her husband, David, of Woodville; 10 grandchildren, Michael Blish, Tori Smith, Millard “Jamie” Ireland, Gina Ireland, Sara Cooper, Wendy Briggs, Mariah Archer, Stephanie Woodin, Sabrina Kimball, and Darrell Ireland; 12 great-grand-children; three brothers, Reginald and Dwight Murchison of Lincoln, Maynard Scott of Howland; four sisters, Shirley Daigle of New Hampshire, Donna Daigle of Lincoln, Polly Porter of Lowell, and Jolene Stockley of Lincoln. He was predeceased by two brothers, Clayton and Lawrence Murchison. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, with William Chesley officiating.
