BAR HARBOR – James “Jim” Herbert Strout, 78, died Jan. 10, 2006, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. He was born July 12, 1927, in Hulls Cove, the son of Seldon and Edith (Gray) Strout. Jim worked in various jobs in Bar Harbor and for eight years he was employed for the Town of Bar Harbor. He was a member of the Third Degree of Knights of Columbus of Ellsworth and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Bar Harbor. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Iona (Tait) Strout; one son, Christopher Strout; and one daughter, Sharon Grant, both of Bar Harbor; one brother, two sisters, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a special great-grandson, Colton. Services of remembrance will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bar Harbor, with Fr. James O’Hara, presiding. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
