WINDSOR, Conn. – James Leon King, 75, passed away Jan. 28, 2005, in Windsor, Conn., after a long hard battle with heart disease. He was born Nov. 25, 1929, to George W. and Olive E. (Clark) King of Belfast. At the age of 15, Jim joined the Merchant Marines. He later re-enlisted and became an Army Ranger Airborne where he served in Okinawa and Korea. After active duty, Jim joined the Air National Guard in Bangor. A great portion of Jim’s life was spent doing what he loved most, being an independent trucker. He was the owner and operator of King Transport, which hauled for many big trucking firms throughout New England. Jim was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Vera M. (Severance) King of Glenburn; and their four daughters, Diane, Rosanne, Karen King, and Jeneice Wilson; three sisters, three brothers, many nieces, nephews; and friends and acquaintances, all of whom held a spot in his heart. Jim also shared his love for life with his 13 grandchildren. His legacy will continue forever through his love of his 15 great-grandchildren. Jim’s life has passed, but through his legacy it will go on and never cease for he was a man of love and honesty and within our hearts we will carry him forever. The family would like to thank the Kimberly Hall Staff of Windsor, Conn., for their loving care and comfort shown to him, and especially Iona for holding his hand. Funeral services and burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. In the spring, family and friends will gather to celebrate his life in Freedom. The Carmon Windsor Funeral Home in Connecticut has charge of arrangements. Please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com for online memorials and tributes.
