LUBEC – Joanne E. Hanson, 74, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Lubec, the daughter of John and Doris (Bean) Durgan. Joanne is survived by three daughters, Bethany Hanson and her husband, Steven Valleau, of Lamoine, Susanne Hanson and her husband, Kurt Hiler, of Sudsbury, Mass., and Anne Hanson and her husband, Tom Kafka, of Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren, Trevor, Colton, Freddy, Raleigh, Zeke, and Helen; a sister, Joyce Dinsmore of Whiting; a special niece, Joanne Matthews of Campobello Island; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Hanson; and three sisters, Mary Davis, Kay Hudson, and Kick Jones. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her proudest accomplishments. Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Atlantic Standard Time, Saturday, Feb. 5 at St. Timothy’s Church, Welshport, Campobello Island, with the Very Reverend Mark Nolette, V.F. officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
