COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – James O. Perkins, 91, formerly of Carmel, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006. Jim was born March 17, 1915, in Hannibal Center, N.Y. Jim was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater on the aircraft carrier, Randolph. He married Helen Lucille Dennison Dec. 5, 1936. He later attended Elohim Bible Institute, Castile, N.Y. He and Helen served many years in the ministry as pastor and missionaries. Jim and Helen recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with their children, Melvin, Anita and Edwin and their spouses at their current residence in Colorado Springs, Colo. Jim and Helen were members of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter. Jim is survived by his wife, Helen (Dennison) Perkins; daughter, Anita (Perkins) Riordan and husband, Robert; two sons, Melvin Perkins and wife, Ruth, of Tucson, Ariz., and Edwin Perkins and wife, Wendy, of Brewer; nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Jim is also survived by his sister, Frances (Perkins) Dennison of Hannibal, N.Y.
