FORT FAIRFIELD – James S. Everitt III, 79, husband of Mrs. Vivian Akerson) Everitt, died Wed-nesday evening, Sept. 26, 2007, at a Caribou health care facility, after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Fort Fairfield, the son of James S. II and Arlene (Greenier) Everitt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II as a seaman 1st class, was a member of the Maine National Guard, the U.S. Navy Reserve and was married to Vivian Akerson, July 25, 1952. Jim was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield the American Legion, Walter Lovely Post No. 27, Fort Fairfield; and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union No. 567, Portland. In addition to his parents, Mr. Everitt was predeceased by one brother, Richard Greenier. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Vivian Everitt; one son and daughter-in-law, Fredrick A. and Donna Everitt, all of Fort Fairfield; two daughters, Janice Everitt of Presque Isle and Carole Everitt of Fort Kent; four grandchildren, Fred-rick A. Everitt II of Fort Fair-field, Christopher Everitt of Presque Isle, Sonia Everitt and Nichole Butler, both of Fort Fairfield; six great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no services. Private interment with military honors will take place at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Everitt to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. Arrangements are in the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
