BRATTLEBORO, Vt. and CARIBOU – James Edward Seitz, 47, died June 13, 2006, surrounded by loving family, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, after a brief illness. Born Dec. 2, 1958, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Jim was the son of Sylvia (Adams) Seitz and the late John Seitz. He graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in 1976 and in 1980, received his bachelor of business administration degree from Idaho State University at Pocatello. He worked for J.C. Penney for many years at their locations in Brattleboro, Vt. and Caribou, in the capacity of merchandising manager and senior merchandising manager. Most recently he worked as an independent carpentry subcontractor and took great pride in his home, which he renovated personally. Jim was a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle. He loved the outdoors and the mountains, his favorite pursuits included spending time with his wife, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, skiing, golf, hunting, fishing and camping. He loved sports and ardently followed the Patriots and the Red Sox. Although quiet by nature, Jim loved to tease those he loved and his humor, loyalty and steady presence will be greatly missed. On June 20, 1992, Jim was married at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church to Brenda L. Lucia, who survives. She is the daughter of Torrington, Conn. residents Leonard and Regina Lucia. Jim is also survived by his mother, Sylvia Seitz of Guilford; brother, Stephen and Stephen’s wife, Susan Austin, of Springfield; sister, Susan Seitz and her husband, Ed Cohen, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister, Sharon Annis and her husband, J. Eric Annis, of Brattleboro and their children, Maggie and Sarah; nephew, Daniel Seitz of Waltham, Mass.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Atamaniuk Funeral Home in Brattleboro. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at the Meeting House Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro, Vt. where his mother worked for many years and where his wife is currently employed.
