LEE and WALDO – Jane Katherine Crozier Gabbianelli, passed away Dec. 3, 2003 at a Belfast hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Montpelier, Vt., the daughter of James and Jane (Muir) Crozier. Jane graduated from Lancaster Academy, Lancaster, N.H. and received her nursing degree from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Manchester, N.H. in 1939. She worked in Maine, New Hampshire, Florida and Connecticut, where she met and married Peter Gabbianelli. While raising their family in Ridgefield, Conn., Jane was a member of The Rosary Society, St. Mary’s Mother’s Club, president of Cana, and was active in Girl Scouting, receiving the St. Ann’s medal. Upon returning to Maine in 1977, she became a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Hampden and the Ladies Auxiliary in Lee. She also belonged to The Jolly Neighbor Club of Brooks. Jane’s most precious gifts were her grandchildren, Christopher Coleman, Michael, Erica, and Nicholas Gabbianelli, and Donovan O’Reilly, plus she was Nana to many more. In addition to her grandchildren, Jane leaves her children and their spouses. Mary Jane and Gregory John Coleman of Waldo, Frank and Joanne Gabbianelli of Dixmont, Edward and Ann Marie Gabbianelli of Ridgefield, Conn., and Anne and Paul O’Reilly of Hampden. Jane also leaves a special sister-in-law, Clara Cirone; several nieces and nephews; special cousins, the Lewis and Muir families, and many cherished friends. Jane was an avid reader, card player and knitter, plus she loved to quilt and bake. She was happiest when she was with people. Jane touched many lives through her unselfishness, and she was a true role model to others in the nursing profession. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Winn with the Rev. Andre Houle presiding. A burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lee. A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Belfast. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Bangor, Hospice of Waldo County, Tall Pines Rehabilitation Center in Belfast or any organization Jane was active in.
