BANGOR – Janice P. Bowman, 86, formerly of Lynnfield, Mass., passed away peacefully Jan. 28, 2007, in Bangor, where she had lived for several years. She was born April 1, 1921, in Swampscott, Mass., the daughter of Gilbert L. and Marjorie (Brooks) Pitman. Janice worked as secretary to the principal of Lynnfield High School for more than 20 years. She often talked about her job there and the kids she watched grow into wonderful adults. Janice moved to Maine to be with her two daughters, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Bowman) Hornyak and her husband, Joe, of Corinth, and Susan (Bowman) Webber and her husband, Peter Daigle, of Dedham; after her husband and love of her life for 56 years, Russell passed away in 2001. Janice had a beautiful apartment overlooking flowers and rolling lawn at Sunbury Village Retirement Community. However, she still considered Lynnfield, Mass., “home.” She continued to subscribe to the Lynnfield Villager to keep in touch with what was happening in the town. Janice had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She prided herself on looking her best every day no matter what. She was one of a kind. She will be sadly missed by her family. In addition to her two daughters, she leaves grandchildren, Lisa Cary of Mechanic Falls, David Lazzaro of Pine Brook, N.J., Brad Chesley of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tara Largay and her husband, Jason, of Bangor; and great-grandchildren, Brent, Allison and Nicole Cary, and the newest addition, Justin Largay. The family thanks all of her wonderful caregivers who gave such a personal touch to Janice’s life. You all made her life so much better. A remembrance dinner and gathering will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Sea Dog Restaurant, Bangor. Family and friends are invited to attend.
