BREWER – Jeanette E. (Dooey) Wiswell, 97, wife of the late Carlton F. “Dutchy” Wiswell, died Oct. 10, 2006, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Feb. 26, 1909, in Brewer, the daughter of Samuel N. and Martha E. (Harriman) Dooey. Jeanette lived in Brewer most of her life, graduating from Brewer High School in 1927. During the late 1960s, she owned and operated Herrick’s Store, South Brewer. After her retirement in the mid 1970s, she and her late husband enjoyed traveling. She will be remembered for all the knitting she did for family and friends as well as her hobby, baking cookies. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Jane Mackenzie and Ruth Patterson, both of Sunapee, N.H., and Nancy Hooper of Hampden; three grandchildren, Greg Patterson and his wife, Ashley, their son, Hunter, of Morrisville, N.C., Karen Mackenzie of Boscawen, N.H., David Mackenzie and his wife, Laura, their sons, Sean and Kevin, of Contoocook, N.H.; a special niece, Prudie Hinds of Ocala, Fla.; nephews, Peter Dooey of Brewer and Paul Dooey of Bristol, Conn. She will be remembered by a special nephew, Henry Wiswell of Orrington; and a special friend, Cindy Harris of Orrington. Jeanette was predeceased by one sister, Mary Herrick; two brothers, Merrill and Nelson Dooey; and one nephew, John Herrick. At her request, there will be no visitation.
