SURRY – Jerry Kaufman approached every day with passion, exuberance, generosity of spirit, a love of the natural world, humor and his priorities firmly in place. A consummate teacher and lifelong learner, he was always eager to pass along his life lessons and share his wisdom. Jerry devoted much of his professional career to teaching and adolescent psychotherapy and he committed himself to strength-ening his community. To be a recipient of a “Jerry Bear Hug” was a special treat and his laughter was contagious. Life for Jerry was shaped by his love of family. He will be remembered lovingly by his wife, Jacqui, with whom he shared four decades of deep friendship; his sons, John and Jacob; and his many family and friends. Please join the family in a celebration of life 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Congregation Beth Israel, Bangor. The burial will be after at Beth Abraham Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Prize4Life at www.prize4life.org, a grassroots fundraising organization devoted to researching a cure for ALS, or Hancock County Homecare and Hospice at www.hancockcountyhomecare.org, who cared for Jerry at home with professionalism, dignity and compassion.
