MILLINOCKET – Joan F. Gantnier, 76, died April 6, 2008, in Bradenton, Fla. She was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Millinocket, the daughter of John and Ethel (Clark) Proctor. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always there for her family members in every way she was needed. She and her daughter, Diane, spent many hours making beautiful ceramics and other arts and crafts Diane came up with. She also spent many hours caring for and loving her granddaughter, Marcia; and great-granddaughters, Ashley and Savannah. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella, Millinocket. She was a daily communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Bradenton, Fla., and a member of their adorer’s group, the Legion of Mary and the Devotion to the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 59 years, Louis Gantnier Sr. of Millinocket and Bradenton, Fla.; five children and their spouses, Louis Jr. and Ngoc of Medway, Michael J. and special friend, Deb, of Madawaska, Diane F. and Guy Larkin of Bradenton, Fla., Sharon and Tom Darling, and John R. and Rose Gantnier, all of Millinocket; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wesley and Richard Proctor of Orrington, and James Proctor of Florida; and one sister, Minerva Proctor of Etna. She was predeceased by three children, Marcia Jean, Jerome Robert and Mark Benedict; two sisters, Wilma White and Patricia Gray; and two brothers, John R. Proctor Jr. and Herbert Proctor. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Father Joel Cyr, celebrant. Spring interment will be held at Millinocket Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
