BOONVILLE, N.C. and GREENVILLE – Mrs. Joan Mason McAfee, 73, passed away Monday, March 8, 2004, at Hoots Memorial Hospital in Yadkinville, N.C. She was born July 27, 1930, in Greenville, to the late Owen and Ola Mason. Mrs. McAfee was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend to her family. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Edwin Stanley McAfee Sr., on Sept. 30, 2001; and by several brothers. Surviving are her son, Edwin S. (Mary) McAfee Jr. of Bangor; a daughter, Deborah (Ronnie) Call of Hamptonville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Angela (Roger) Call, Timothy McCann Jr., and Amy Sawyer; five great-grandchildren, Chelsey McCann, Taylor McCann, Chance Sapp, Mandy Jo McCann, Timothy M. McCann III; and two sisters, Betty Comber and Mary Ryder. A private service will be held in Greenville. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville, N.C., is serving the McAfee family.
