EVANSTON, Ill. – John A. Ippoliti, 58, died peacefully at his home in Evanston, Ill., Aug. 28, 2005. He was born Dec. 1, 1946, in Millinocket, the son of the late XL (Reaves) Ippoliti and Victor Ippoliti of Millinocket and Miles, Texas. He was a 1965 graduate of Stearns High School and a 1969 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Boston University. Pursuing his love of foreign languages and cultures, John received a Fulbright Teaching Fellowship and lived in France while earning his PhD in French Literature from Brown University(1976). He taught at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. before transitioning to a career in banking. John was a senior vice president and commercial lender with Harris Bank, Winnetka Ill. He served on the boards of the Music Center of the North Shore, Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians and Faith in Action of Southeast Lake County. John is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Pamela (Richardson) Ippoliti; sisters, Jane Arthur of Skowhegan and Jill Ippoliti and her husband, James Blanck, of Winthrop. John was a loving uncle to Emily and Joanna Blanck of Winthrop and Kristofer John Arthur, and his wife, Michelle, of Naperville, Ill. and was the beloved son-in-law of Karl Richardson, and his wife, Mary Lou, of Estero, Fla. John led an exemplary life and will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, and his appreciation for literature and music. He and Pamela faced his short battle with pancreatic cancer with courage and dignity. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 939 Hinman Ave., Evanston, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025.
