FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. – John Benjamin Jameson died Dec. 22, 2005, of congestive heart failure. Born Aug. 11, 1923, in East Millinocket. John enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. Sept. 17, 1941, and served four years, primarily as an infantry chief in the Eastern Solomons, Gilbert Island, Savo Island, Nauru, Kwajalein and Marshal Island. He also served on-board the USS Washington. He was discharged as a technical sergeant. and joined the Los Angeles Police Department. He was called back to duty in the Marines during the Korean War where he received the Bronze Star as well as a Purple Heart. He rejoined LAPD upon his discharge. John retired from LAPD after 20 years and joined the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, later becoming an agent for the Drug Enforcement Agency, where he continued to work another 19 years. John married Theresa Arline Arsenault, of Bangor on April 1, 1944. She preceded him in death in 1996 after 52 years of marriage. John is survived by his daughter, Sharon Frances Gannon, Huntington Beach, Calif., son-in-law, James and their two daughters, Kathleen Carter, Huntington Beach, Calif. and Arline Gannon, Irvine, Calif. and two great-grandchildren, Trinon and Riely Carter. He is also survived by his son, John B. Jameson Jr., La Quinta, Calif., his daughter-in-law, Rose Mary, and their two children, Chris Jameson, Salt Lake City, Utah and Dawn Marie Jameson, Huntington Beach, Calif. John is also survived by brothers, George “Bud” Jameson, Queensbury, N.Y., Benjamin F. Jameson, Hampton, Va., Michael Jameson, Robards, Ky.; and brother-in-law, Bernard White of East Millinocket. John’s sister, Francis (Jameson) White; and brother, James “Jimmy” Jameson predeceased him. John was the son of Francis Jameson and Benita (Files) Jameson of East Millinocket. There is no service, per John’s request and following cremation he is to join Theresa’s ashes at sea.
