WALDO – John E. Tower, 78, passed away March 15, 2007, in Belfast. He was born March 17, 1928, in Belmont, the son of Cleveland M. and Helen Marie (Flagg) Tower. John spent his childhood years growing up in Belmont and Lincolnville with his parents, four brothers and six sisters. He attended the Greer schoolhouse in Belmont. He was self-employed for most of his life working in the woods with his horses. He was last employed by Waldo County Transportation as a volunteer driver. He enjoyed taking his draft horses to state fairs for pulling competitions and won numerous contests. He coached men’s softball for many years and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was well loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Allmyer) Tower; three daughters, June McCormick of Belfast, Kathy Larrabee and her husband, Owen, of Belfast, and Carol Tower of Searsport; one sister, Thelma Hotham of Belfast; six grandchildren, John Cox of Waldo, Chelly Clark and her husband, Scott, of Gouldsboro, Greg Tower and his wife, Angela, of Searsport, Katie Bagley and her husband, Tony, of Searsport, Lori Cross and her husband, Adam, of Morrill, and Amy Tower of Belfast; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Olivia, Ryker, Matthew, Brooke, and Drew; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; one daughter, Beverly M. LeSan; four brothers and five sisters. Graveside services will be held this spring at Grove Cemetery, Belfast, and announced at a later date. Arrangements are being made by Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
