PLAINVILLE, Conn. – John “Jack” Crowley, 72, formerly of West Hartford, Conn., passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine, Fla. He was born June 16, 1934, in Brewer, to the late Thomas Crowley and Helen (Feeney) Crowley. He was retired from Specter Fright. John graduated from Central Connecticut State University and Tunxis Community College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. John was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. This is no ordinary obituary, because John was no ordinary man. His entire life was devoted to learning and helping others. He enjoyed life and enjoyed being with his wife. He enjoyed winning and has won by being with the Lord. If a man can continually teach himself, then he educates others. If a man can be truthful, then he will not lie. If a man can be a leader, then he can lead. If a man can be spiritual, then he gives of his spirit. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cianci Crowley; a daughter, Laurie Hendenberg and her husband, Larry, of Decatur, Ill.; a son, Gary Crowley of Illinois; a brother, Eddie Crowley and his wife, Ann, of Carmel; many nieces and nephews, especially Sandi and Jeff Macomber, and Kirsten and Steven Ireland; stepchildren, Patti and Jay Binkowski, Marie and John Susco, Jim Cianci, and Kim Seio; and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Viola Crowley; and a son, Robert Crowley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at St. Matthew Church, Forestville, Conn., with burial after at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford, Conn.
