NEWBURGH and ORONO – John D. Thomas, 60, died April 20, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 18, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa, son of Frank and Leone (Zellers) Thomas. John was a long time music and orchestra teacher at Orono High School, violinist with the Bangor Symphony, and organist at the Church of Universal Fellowship, Orono. He is survived by sons, Jason and Nicholas of Pennsylvania; aunts, uncles, nieces and a nephew in Iowa, Nebraska and Arkansas, and a special friend, Gary W. Woolson. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be announced and a memorial service will be held later in the spring. Contributions may be made to the Music program at Orono High School and the Church of Universal Fellowship, Orono.
