FRANKLIN – John H. Day went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at his daughter’s home in North Berwick. He was born January 11, 1935, in Johnstown, N.Y., a son of William and Geraldine (Roarick) Day. John and his wife lived in Franklin for 42 years. They spent the last year with their loving daughter, Ruth, and son-in-law, Paul Sprague and family while he battled with ALS – Lou Gehrig’s Disease. John was a devoted husband for 49 years, a loving father and friend. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth for many years, and was a former teacher and was a retiree of the U.S. Air Force. John is survived by his wife, Grace; children, John, Brenda (Sister Peter Marie OCD), Ronald, Donald, Ruth, and Michael and their families; a brother, Edward and family; two sisters, Sandra and Cathy; sisters-in-law, Jeanne, Elaine, Marilyn and their families; Patricia McIntyre; the sisters at Carmel Monastery, Sioux City, Iowa; and special friends, Dana and Christine Young. He was predeceased by a brother, William. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth with Father Lou Phillips, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth. Gifts in memory of John may be sent to homeless shelters or food pantries. Arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
