CALAIS – John Henry Murphy, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home. Hank was born April 13, 1927, in Westbrook, son of the late Johnson and Helen (Milligan) Murphy. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabee’s during World War II. Hank married Phyllis Pomeroy in St. Stephen, N.B., Aug. 8, 1948. He was employed as an electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1253. Hank was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Calais, Sherman Bros. Post 3 American Legion, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, lobstering, square dancing and traveling to Florida. He owned and operated Hank’s Pizza in Calais for several years. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary and Frances. Surviving are his loving wife of more than 57 years, Phyllis Murphy; two sons, Brad Murphy and wife, Debbie, of Falmouth and Calvin Murphy and wife, Deborah, of Bangor; two sisters, Nora Duclos and husband, Joe, of Portland and Wanda Merril of Saco; four grandchildren, Erika, Erin, Jessefa, and Ariel; one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Second Baptist Church, Church Street, Calais with Pastor Chris Stevens officiating.
