GLENBURN – John J. “Sully” Sullivan, 76, passed away peacefully Oct. 9, 2003, with his loving wife at his side at Brewer Rehab and Living Center. He was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Orono, the son of Thomas and Mary (Marshman) Sullivan. He married his wife, Jean Irene (Weston) Sullivan on Sept. 2, 1950. They lived on Palm Street in Bangor until 1971, then they moved to Glenburn where they have resided since. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then went to work for the Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. for 40 years until retiring in 1989. After that he and his wife wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was a member of the Bangor Hydro Quarter Century Club and Orono American Legion Post 84. John was an avid gardener, builder and loved teaching his granddaughter, the apple of his eye, to do crafts. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Surviving besides his wife of 53 years, Jean of Glenburn, are a daughter, Beverly Mudgett and granddaughter, Krystal Mudgett of Glenburn; sisters, Alberta “Bertie” and husband, Donald “Dolly” Cota, and Rita Fortier, all of Orono; sisters-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Zeran of Silver Springs, Md., Louise and husband, Harold Wyman, and Clarice Weston of Bangor. He was predeceased by a sister, Maureen Little; brothers, Thomas Sullivan and Dana Sullivan; and a special son-in-law, George Mudgett. A special thanks to all the fine people of Brewer Rehab and Living Center that helped make his last days very pleasant. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Glenburn. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor immediately following the service.
