ORLAND – John Joseph Garzarelli, 78, died July 30, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Clayton, N.J., the son of Domanic and Julia (Dibartano) Garzarelli. John was a proud veteran who served his country during three wars. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Jerry Dobbins Post No. 157, Stockton Springs, a life member of VFW Post No. 109, Ellsworth, a life member of the Franklin Veteran’s Club, and member of Cootie, a military order of VFW, Old Town. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude “Cookie” (Petzel) Garzarelli of Orland; two sons, Gary Garzarelli, and Mark Garzarelli; step-son, Blake Gary and his wife, Theresa; brother, Mario Garzarelli of West Collingswood, N.J.; sister, Albine Manske of Camp Hill, Pa. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at the Franklin Veteran’s Club. Private interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
