LEVANT – John Lawrence Bonzey, 60, passed away May 17, 2006, with his friends and family at his side at the Maine Veterans’ Home. He was born March 1, 1946, in Lowell, Mass., a son of John L. and Muriel I. (Turner) Bonzey. John graduated from Brewer High School. He was a first class corpsman in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1991 with 23 years of service. He was in the Naval Reserve for five years. John lived in many areas of the Pacific, including seven years in the Philippines, four years in Hawaii, six years in Guam, and two years in Japan. He served in Vietnam in 1967-68. He worked at the Hampden Post Office from 2002-2004. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Delia of Levant; two children, Albert Bonzey and family and Amelia Leeo and family of the Philippines; brothers and sisters and their families, Judson Langan of Brewer and Florida, Delia Cates of Eddington, Muriel Brownell of Michigan, Lester K. Bonzey of Lewiston, James Bonzey of Lucerne; and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by a special friend, Tim Munson of Bangor. At his request, no services will be held. His remains will be interred in the Philippines, at a future date. Arrangements by Foley Funeral Service, Bangor.
