HOWLAND and HAMPDEN – John Thomas Havlin, 43, passed away unexpectedly April 11, 2006, at his home in Howland. He was born Oct. 28, 1962, in Boston, Mass., the son of John T. and Ruth (Podlaski) Havlin. John grew up in Massachusetts and after graduation from high school he entered the U.S. Marine Corp. Following his service to his country, he later moved to Hampden where he raised his family. He moved to Howland in 2003 and at the time of his death was a Disabled American Veteran. Jack came from a very large family, with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, which were all very special to him. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew him and felt his unconditional love. He was very devoted to his family and was most proud of his five children who he taught to love, find happiness and always be forgiving. His hugs and sense of humor will be missed. Jack is survived by his mother, Ruth Heylin and her husband, Joe, of Bangor; his father, John T. Havlin and his wife, Sally, of Boston; his children; Kelly, Angela, John, Michael and Ashley Havlin, all of Hampden; grandmother, Mary Podlaski; brothers, Thomas and James Havlin; sisters, Lisa D’Ambrose, Sandy Havlin and Janet Horgan; his loving friend and mother of his five children, Kelly Havlin of Hampden. John also leaves behind some very dear friends, Kerri Tardif, Marcus Giordano, Mike Brooks, Steve Hogan, Kitty and Dutch VanSyckle. Visiting hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, celebrant. Interment with military honors will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
