ORLAND – John T. Whitney, 84, died March 14, 2006, at a Penobscot nurs-ing facility. He was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Gray, the son of Earl L. and Margaret E. (MacIntosh) Whitney. He was a graduate of the Pennell Institute, Gray, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the European Theatre during World War II. He lived in Gray and Saco for many years and moved to East Orland in 1975. John is survived by a brother, Philip Whitney and his wife, Alberta, of East Orland; a sister, Earla Bonney of Gray; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn G. (Gallop) Whitney; and sister, June Glaser. Arrangements by Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
