EDDINGTON – John Wilton Merrill, 65, husband of Katherine (Hall) Merrill, passed away peacefully, Nov. 14, 2004, surrounded by his family at his home in Eddington. He was born Aug. 10, 1939, in Brewer, the son of Roger W. and Mildred (Bates) Merrill. John was a graduate of Bangor High School. He retired from Printing Services at the University of Maine at Orono with more than 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Katherine of Eddington; a daughter, Laura O’Heidhin and her husband, Marty, of San Rafael, Calif.; two sons, Bryan G. Merrill of Ocala, Fla., and John W. Merrill II stationed at U.S. Army Base at Fort Stewart, Ga.; grandchildren, Luke Ryan and Kyle Mathew O’Heidhin of San Rafael, Calif.; a sister, Judith D. Reynolds, and her husband, John, of Milton, Fla., many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, James Martin. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Linda Evelyn Merrill. A celebration of John’s Life for family and friends will be held 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, at John’s and Katherine’s home, 79 Main Road, Eddington. In lieu of flowers, gestures of remembrance may be made to New Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 757, Holden, ME 04429. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden.
