JON BOYINGTON LINCOLN – Jon Boyington died Thursday morning on May 6, 2004, at Penobscot Valley Hospital after fighting a vigorous battle with cancer with his family at his side. He leaves behind his wife of 22 years and his two children. He was born April 27, 1958, in Lincoln, and was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy in 1976. Jon spent his life working hard and doing the things he loved to do; spending time with his canine friends, motorcycling, hunting, fishing, and even the occasional hand of cribbage with anyone who dared challenge him up in his “ultimate” fish house a.k.a. the Allagash Condo. He was half- owner and operator of Statewide Mobile Homes and Statewide Mobile Home Transport, second only to his loving “boss” Donna. He would always say “she’s the boss” and “I work for her!” He would always do this with a truthful smile and a hint of laughter as was his way. He was proud to be a member of the “Venturers Motorcycle Club” and “United Bikers of Maine.” He spent countless hours talking to fellow motorcyclists about everything. Always excited to help others, he was a participant of the great UBM Toy Run the past couple years. He would talk about it for months before the event and made sure his friends and family would be able to share in the event. Jon also contributed to the community by grilling for the Lincoln Firefighters and many other great things. These activities made him an honorary firefighter for life. Always smiling, no matter what he was doing, whether it be cooking for friends on his grill or moving mobile homes, you knew he loved life and loved what life had given him. Although Jon’s life was cut short due to his hard fought battle with cancer, he fought back by living his life to the fullest and sharing it with those he loved. He will be sadly missed by those he loved and whom loved him. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 22 years, Donna; his son, Adam; and daughter, Ashleigh; his mother-in-law, Therese Vaillancourt; his five brothers, Brian and (Paula), Jeff and (Callie), Brent and (Jane), Mark and (Verna), Kirk and (Mary). Jon also leaves behind parents, Ken and Jean Boyington; as well as many special friends, family, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He always said “everyone deserved to wake up with a smile.” His memory will always make us smile. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Myles Cyr presiding. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
