ST. AGATHA – Joseph D. Lapointe, 72, died Oct. 19, 2006, at a Fort Kent hospital after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Van Buren, the son of Chester and Mamie (Sirois) Lapointe. Joe took great pride in his love for family and maintaining the grounds around his home. During his spare time he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and playing cards. His love for sports included the Patriots and especially the Yankees. He graduated from Van Buren High School and retired from Fraser Paper afer more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree. He is survived by one son, Peter and his wife, Rachel; one daughter, Donna and her husband, Gary Boucher, both of St. Agatha; six grandchildren, Crystal, Mathew, Ryan, Brad, Breana and Chantel; three brothers and their wives, Patrick and Omerine, Richard and Nicole and Michael and Christine, all of Van Buren; and three sisters and their husbands, Claudette and Dean Lewis of South Dakota, Marlene and Raymond Maldonado of Van Buren and Geneva and Gordon Cole of Lynn, Mass. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Marie Morin in 1999; his parents; and one brother, Elmer. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 and 9 a.m. Monday until time of services at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Agatha Catholic Church with the Rev. Philip Cyr officiating. Burial will be at the St. Agatha Lower Cemetery.
