EAST MILLINOCKET – Joseph J. Pelletier, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at a Howland health care facility. He was born July 11, 1918, in Daigle, the son of Denis and Emma (Boutot) Pelletier. Joseph was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in Italy. For his actions during his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the EAMET Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. After the war, he came home to Soldier Pond, where he married his girlfriend, Priscilla Charette. In 1954 they moved to Millinocket and to East Millinocket in 1956, where they made their home for many years. Joseph worked at Great Northern Paper, East Millinocket, as a grinderman for 18 years, retiring in 1972. Joseph was a member of American Legion Post No. 80, Millinocket; Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Post No. 4154, Millinocket and AARP, Millinocket. He was also a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, East Millinocket. Joseph took classes for and enjoyed tying flies for fishing. He is survived by eight children, Bernadette Nice and her husband, Gary, of Millinocket, Theresa McKeen and her husband, Frank, of Amherst, Claudette Philbrook and her husband, John, of Millinocket, Linda Campbell of Brunswick, Joel Pelletier and his wife, Deborah, of Medway, Roger Pelletier and Brenda of Millinocket, Jimmy Pelletier of Orrington and Patsy Morrow of Millinocket; a brother, Wilfred Pelletier and his wife, Eva, of Houlton; a sister, Jeanette Bard of Bingham; 12 grandchildren, David Nice, Laurie Jordan, Paul and Carrie Houser, Christine Brassau, Charles Campbell Jr., Tracy Smith, Angela Porter, Joel Pelletier Jr., Danielle Matthews, Matthew Pelletier and Kayla Pelletier; 20 great-grand-children; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Priscilla (Charette) Pelletier in 2005; a son-in-law, Charles Campbell and several brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to visit with the family 7-9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday at Bouchard-Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
