DEER ISLE – Joseph Lane Brown, 11, his freckled faced smile was taken away from us unexpectedly Sept. 6, 2004. He was born Feb. 15, 1993 in Ellsworth. Joe loved life and everything it had to offer and took advantage of every opportunity. He was involved in so many things; he was a drama technician for the school plays, Karate, where he just earned his brown belt and was grand champion of Tracy’s Karate in his division, he was a Little League All-Star in baseball for many years, he was part of the chess team that went to the Nationals three years in a row and won many more awards and trophies for basketball and soccer. He had many collections. Whatever he found, he collected. When he wasn’t being serious about sports, Joe was the little charmer that stole your heart with his impish grin that was always accompanied by a twinkle of his eyes. To know Joe was to love him, he lit your heart. Joe was so loving, generous and helpful to anyone he came in contact with, but most of all to his family, he loved them all so much. Words can never express how much this little boy will be missed by so many; he touched all of our lives in a way that will never leave us He is survived by his dad, Russell and his mama, Jennifer; his brother, Rob; and two sisters, Chelsea and Whitney. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents Cheryl Brown, Joe Brown and his companion, Diane; great- grandparents, R. Fuller and Nornine Eaton, Percy and Annamae Brown; maternal grandparents Jon and Doreene Haskell; great-grandparents, Arthur “Dud” Haskell and Barbara Bridges; Aunts and Uncles, Garrett and Tasha, Darrell and Denise, Carrie, Greg and Barbara, Jessi, Johnny and Nicole and special “aunts” Connie and Lori; and many other aunts and uncles; cousins Patrick and Samantha, Michala, Myles, Coleman, Cameron and Dillan; and many, many other family and friends. He was predeceased by his great-grandparents, Melvin Bridges, Mable Pearson, Leatrice Brown and Madelyn Eaton; his aunt, Cherri Brown; and cousin, Chris Trundy. Visiting hours will be held 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Stonington. Private committal services will be held at Hillside Cemetery.
