MILLINOCKET and BENEDICTA – Joseph M. “Uncle Bud” Duffy, 76, died Aug. 14, 2007, at Cum-mings Health Care, Howland, after a long illness. He was born May 13, 1931, in Benedicta, the son of Harold and Josephine (Mahoney) Duffy. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 1952-1954. He retired from Great Northern Paper Co., after 33 years of service in 1987. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Theriault and her husband, Rick, of Millinocket and Mary Jo Pitman and her husband, Mark, of Granite Falls, Wash.; four grandsons, John Schwarze Jr., Timothy Schwarze, Anthony Schwarze and Brandon Gagnon; three great-grandchildren, Haley, Joseph and John Schwarze; seven sisters, Jane Rush, Regina Bernard, Judy Stickney, Betty Coughlin, Helena Brown, Patty Levesque and Cathy Duffy-Stanley; one brother, Michael Duffy; many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful and dear friends, especially Joan Ganthier and Frank Duffy. He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Mary Robinson; and two brothers, Robert Duffy and Frank Duffy. Many thanks to the staff of In Home Care, Millinocket Regional Hospital and Cummings Health Care, Howland, for the wonderful care, love and kindness. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket, with Father Eddy Morin, celebrant. Interment will be at St. Benedict’s Cemetery, Benedicta.
