PERRY and MILTON, N.H. – Joseph Murphy died Sept. 28 2005, at his home. He was born July 28, 1949. He was a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was retired from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Shipbuilders, Forgers and Helpers of America, Local 29. He was a traditional Passamaquoddy basketmaker and highly skilled moose hunter. He touched lives all around the world. He was a free spirit and enjoyed all aspects of life to the fullest. He was predeceased by his parents, Veronica Tomah Murphy Bassett and Michael Patrick Murphy; and three brothers, Richard Socoby, Michael Patrick Murphy Jr. and Elvis Murphy. He is survived by his three daughters, Jolene M. Sneed of Cherokee, N.C., Mariah Cloutier of Farmington and Karli Murphy of Portland; two brothers, Robert Tomah and Kenneth Murphy; four sisters, Joyce Doten, Brenda Breeze, Sophie Paul and Gidget Newell; two grandchildren, Quintyn Joseph Gregg and Ava Juliette Cloutier; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Joseph’s home on Route 1 in Perry. A traditional ceremony will follow.
