BANGOR and ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – Joseph Patrick Hughes, 39, husband of Laura (Morella) Hughes, died unexpectedly, June 6, 2004, at his home in Florida. He was born Feb. 12, 1965, in Bangor the son of Dr. Edward and Barbara Hughes of Dedham. Since moving to Florida in 1987 Joe always loved to return to Maine each summer to visit the family at camp. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by his family. Survivors include his parents, four brothers, five sisters and their spouses, Eddie and Colleen of Bangor, Steve and Paula of Brewer, Jeff and Margaret of Hermon, Chris and Kathleen of Clearwater, Fla., Sue and Jim Brooker of Veazie, Patty and Donny Lynch of Glenburn, Linda and Bob Murtaugh of Castle Rock, Colo., Debbie and Scott Kenny of Holden and Karen Hughes of Dedham, 10 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins, three special stepchildren, Jason, Joshua and David, and his dogs, Sunny and Shady. A celebration of Joe’s life for family and friends will take place 1-3 p.m. Sun., June 13, 2004 at the Bangor Elks Club, 108 Odlin Rd., Bangor. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Joe’s memory be made to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Diabetes & Nutrition Center, PO Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402.
