BREWER – Joseph Van Dykes Sr., 90, passed away Dec. 12, 2007, in Brewer, after a time of declining health. He was born Nov. 10, 1917, in Concordia, Kan., the son of Clarence A. and Sadie (Head) Dykes. Joe was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, who brought a special love to all, in his own kind and gentle way. He was best remembered as Dad, Poppy and Bud to those of us who were fortunate enough to have had him in our lives. We love you, we miss you and we will never forget you. Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph Van Dykes Jr. of Brewer; a granddaughter, Cyn-thia Senes and husband, James, of Colchester, Conn.; two great-grandchildren; Lydia and Samuel Senes; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife of more than 60 years, Bessie (Devou) Van Dykes, December 2006; one brother, Leroy; and four sisters, Lillian, Leona, Leota and Leoren. Family and friends may visit 4-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St, Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 6 p.m. as the visitation concludes with the Rev.
