CHESTER – Josephine E. Emerson, 86, wife of John Emerson, died June 30, 2004, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. She was born May 11, 1918, in West Enfield, the daughter of Joseph and Arlene (Preble) Rollins. Josephine loved camping at Parks Pond in Clifton, doing crossword puzzles and cooking. In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by her five children and their spouses, Linda and Keith Stratton of Chester, Joseph and Linda Emerson of Cardville, Peggy and Dick Cote of Alton, Frederick Emerson of Chester and Charlotte and Mac McClure of North Carolina; four sisters, Alma Crocker of Lincoln, Harriet Hesseltine of Passadumkeag, Jackie Hatch of Enfield and Clydie Batchelder of Enfield; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grand-children, five great-great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Henry Rollins, Anthony Rollins and Orison Rollins; and one sister, Joyce Osborne. Family and friends may call at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, on Friday at 9 a.m. until time of departure for the cemetery. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Enfield Village Cemetery, with the Rev. Chet Dana officiating.
