ELLSWORTH – Josephine H. Mickun, 90, died Sept. 24, 2007, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born July 15, 1917, in Stamford, Conn., the beloved daughter of Victor and Anna (Amshey) Chesnes. Josephine lived in Wetherfield, Conn., for many years. She worked at the Newington Home for Crippled Children for many years as a nurse’s aid. Josephine retired and moved to Maine in 1977. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Golden Age, the St. Joseph’s Women’s Council and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW No. 109. She is survived by three daughters, Lillian Mitzkovitz of Ellsworth, Mary Kopta and husband, Bob, of Columbia, Tenn., and Kathleen Hubert and husband, Patrick, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren, Samantha, Robert and Andrew Kopta; many loving nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Josephine was predeceased by her two husbands, Alphonse Mickun and Henry Mitzkovitz; and by her daughter, Jean Mitzkovitz. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Scott Mower, presiding.
