GEORGIA and SEARSPORT Josephine S. Kinstler, 73, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005. She was born in Belfast. Josephine was raised in Searsport and graduated from Searsport High School. She attended nursing school at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., and then married Clifford C. Kinstler Jr., also of Searsport, when he returned from the service. They spent most of their married life in Atlanta, Ga., which she loved for its warm weather and beautiful flowers. They returned to Searsport for their summers after retirement. Jo was active in her nursing career, returning to college in her 40’s to receive her bachelors of science in nursing. She continued to work with the elderly both as a nurse in a large nursing home in Atlanta and with Meals on Wheels and respite programs after her retirement. She was active in the choir and numerous committees at her church in Atlanta. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belfast and the Searsport Historical Society for many years. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles K. and Mina Davis Sawyer; as well as her beloved husband, Clifford. Mrs. Kinstler is survived by her sons, Kevin and his wife, Anna Kanski, and Michael and his wife, Marcia. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Colleen and numerous cousins. She is missed by many dear friends, neighbors and extended family members. A visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport. Her interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to the Carver Memorial Library or to a charity of your choice.
